Felice Simonelli

Biography

Felice Simonelli is Head of Policy Evaluation at CEPS.

He is also an Associate Researcher at the Research Centre in Industrial Organization and Finance of LUISS “Guido Carli” University (Rome). Expert in better regulation, competitiveness and energy intensive industries, over the last 10 years Felice has provided research and consulting services to various public institutions, trade associations and companies. He has managed many research projects for the European Commission and the European Parliament.

He was, inter alia, the lead author of two large studies for DG GROW, namely the last edition of the study on “Composition and drivers of energy prices and costs in energy-intensive industries” and the “Cumulative Cost Assessment of the EU Ceramics and Glass industries”. He is now deputy project director of a DG ENER study analysing the “Competitiveness of corporate sourcing of renewable energy”. He also co-authored two past editions of the DG GROW study on “composition and drivers of energy prices and costs in energy-intensive industries” and the “Cumulative Cost Assessment of the Aluminium and Steel industries” for the then DG ENTR. He has an extensive experience in data collection and analysis across EU countries, including in conducting interviews and surveys and arranging stakeholder consultations on behalf of the European Commission. Felice was a Visiting Ph.D. Student at The Buchmann Faculty of Law (Tel Aviv University) and a Visiting Researcher at Berkeley Law (University of California) and published several papers on peer reviewed journals.

He holds a Ph.D. in Law and Economics from LUISS University, an LL.M. cum laude in Law and Economics from Erasmus University of Rotterdam and from Ghent University, a M.Sc. cum laude in Law and Economics and a Bachelor cum laude in Economics and Business from LUISS.
