Biography
Christian Essers joined Wacker Chemie AG in Munich in 2011 as director global energy pro-curement.
Besides operational procurement of electricity, natural gas & industrial gases for major sites and global energy procurement strategies, he is also responsible for energy related regula-tory affairs.
Following studies business and economics , Mr. Essers started his career in management con-sulting with Roland Berger in Dusseldorf and later with Arthur D.Little in London. At both firms his focus areas were energy and utilities – at the time advising clients on market deregulation ac-cording to the first European energy market directive. Subsequently, Mr. Essers held various executive positions with utilities Reliant Energy and Nuon in the Netherlands. His areas of responsibility ranged from planning, strategy, regulatory affairs to various corporate services, e.g. HR, IT and communications.
From 2005 until joining Wacker Chemie AG, Mr. Essers grew the pan-European business activi-ties of Genscape Inc as managing director Europe. Genscape supplied energy traders and ana-lysts with real-time physical data on power, gas and oil products.
