Business Developer, EEX

Biography

Viviana is a Business Development expert at European Energy Exchange (EEX). EEX is the leading energy exchange in Europe which develops, operates and connects secure, liquid and transparent markets for energy and related products.

Viviana has over ten years’ experience in commercial roles at financial commodity exchanges. She has amassed detailed knowledge of power and carbon markets as well as a deep understanding of spot and derivatives trading and clearing. She is currently responsible for commercial strategies related to the integration of renewables in the European Power Derivatives segment.

In particular Viviana focuses on how PPAs and increasing merchant risk are affecting the hedging needs of EEX members and the wider players in renewable energy industry. She leads marketing efforts related to the available risk management products for PPAs and spearheads initiatives to develop new exchange-based products that can further de-risk PPAs. As a result, long-term hedging of PPAs via financial electricity futures has already begun in the EEX Spanish Power market.

Prior to joining the European Power Derivatives department, Viviana worked extensively in the emissions offering of EEX, ensuring the successful start of the EU ETS auctions conducted on behalf of 26 EU Member States.

Viviana started her career in 2008 at BlueNext, the former environmental commodities trading platform of NYSE Euronext and Caisse des Dépôts, where she developed new customer business for EUA and CER spot trading.

Viviana holds a B.A.H. from Queen’s University in Canada, and an Executive Master in Energy Management from ESCP Europe.
